With Slope nearly fully funded, I took another day off and headed up to Wisconsin. One of the local hills, Tyrone's Basement (Tyrol Basin), runs a $14 lift ticket every Tuesday so naturally I couldn't pass it up. Since it was my classmate and close friend Sam's birthday we didn't need much more of an excuse to get out and ride. We packed up the car and left Chicago looking to get away from the city madness for a day and lay down some turns.
I had planned to pitch Slope to some of the employees around the hill however I had too much fun and didn't remember. I had also realized that snowboarding was one of the few times I take to actually block out everything and just focus on riding. This therapeutic feeling of freedom has become a reoccurring thought every time I strap in this year. My senior thesis project is focused on this part of snowboarding, the best part.
So I strapped in once more with all my friends, and didn't talk about Slope that day. Some people consider a spa day relaxing, but I would take a day on my snowboard over a spa day any day. If you ask me that the next day when all of those 360 attempts catch up with me I might pick the spa, but I would have to be hurting pretty bad not to snowboard.
